Scholarships
Moody Theological Seminary–Michigan is committed to making seminary education as affordable as possible and understands that some students need additional assistance with their tuition costs. Through generous donors, scholarships are available to both new and returning students. What scholarships are available for MTS–Michigan students?MTS–Michigan provides tuition assistance to students through the following scholarship programs:
- Crowell Grant – Scholarships full-time Master of Divinity students demonstrating financial need.
- Timothy Scholarship – Provides a 33% tuition scholarship for students that are able to obtain 33% support from their church. Scholarship also requires a mentoring relationship between a MTS–Michigan student and their pastor/church leader.
How do I apply for the Crowell Grant?Students interested in this scholarship must submit an application and meet the criteria below:
- Scholarships are awarded to both new and returning students.
- Student must be accepted as a MDiv graduate student prior to the start of the semester.
- Student must be registered for at least 9 credit hours in the semester for which the scholarship is requested.
- Student must have a grade point average of at least 2.5.
- Student must intend to serve in full-time vocational ministry.
- Student must demonstrate financial need. Applicant must complete a FAFSA online application, available at www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Use "B01727" (Moody Bible Institute) as the school code.
- Submit application to the Student Services office by established due date (see deadlines below).
How do I apply for the Timothy Scholarship?Students interested in this scholarship must submit an application and meet the criteria below:
- Scholarships are awarded to both new and returning students.
- Student must be accepted as a graduate student prior to the start of the term/semester.
- Student must take courses for credit offered on campus.
- Scholarship cannot be used for fees or textbooks.
- Student cannot audit or reduce to audit after starting a course.
- Student who drops courses or credits will be responsible for any prorated tuition and fees.
- Student does not need to demonstrate financial need.
- Student must complete a Timothy Scholarship application each semester/term.
- Student must establish and maintain a mentoring relationship with church pastor or church leader.
- Scholarship will cover 33% of tuition.
- Scholarship is contingent on receiving 33% support from the student’s church or other supporter.
- Submit application to the Student Services office by established due date (see deadlines below).
What are the scholarship application deadlines?All scholarship applications (including required supporting documentation) are due approximately one month prior to the start of the semester/term for which the scholarship applies. Students applying for Fall semester scholarships must apply by August 1, Winter semester by December 1, and Spring/Summer term by April 1 each year. Applicants will be notified of scholarship awards/denial within two weeks of these dates.
