The Moody Theological Seminary and Graduate School–Michigan Commencement will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Highland Park Baptist Church in Southfield.

Dr. John R. Jelinek will be our speaker.  Dr. Jelinek is the Vice President and Dean of Moody Theological Seminary and Graduate School.

 

Detailed Information for students planning to graduate in 2010:


  • The Chaplain’s Endorsement is necessary for graduation.  Each potential graduate is required to schedule an interview with the Dr. Paul Wilson who will certify them for graduation.  All interviews must be completed by Thursday, April 22nd.  Please contact Nicole Johnson to schedule your interview.
  • Graduation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Dressing rooms will be available.  You need to arrive at the church by 11:30 a.m.  Tickets will be necessary for your guests for the graduation ceremony.  Order your graduation tickets now! 
  • Individual portraits will be taken at 11:30 a.m.  Please let us know if you would like to have your portrait taken.  R.S.V.P for your portrait now! Group pictures will be taken at 11:45 a.m.  We will not wait for you if you are late.  You will not be in the group pictures with your graduating class if you arrive after 11:45 a.m.   
  • The ceremony will take place at Highland Park Baptist Church, 28600 Lahser Rd., Southfield, MI 48034.  The church is on Lahser Road south of 12 Mile Road. The ceremony is scheduled to last about 1 ¼ hours. Dr. John Jelinek will be our commencement speaker this year. 
  • Graduation Rehearsal is scheduled for Friday, May 21 at 6 p.m., at Highland Park Baptist Church. Attendance is mandatory. Rehearsal will take no more than one hour. The annual Alumni Dinner will be immediately after the rehearsal in the fellowship hall at Highland Park Baptist Church.  This event will welcome the new graduates into the Moody Alumni Association, and honor cords will be distributed.  Tickets are required for this event and are no charge for 2010 MTS–Michigan graduates and one guest.  Additional guests are $20 each.  Tickets should be ordered by May 3rd. Order your tickets for the alumni dinner now. 
  • Pizza with the Dean has been scheduled for Thursday, May 20th at 6 p.m. Please mark your calendars and take advantage of this opportunity to meet with the Dean for fellowship, encouragement, and follow-up on your time at MTS. Please R.S.V.P. by Monday, May 3rd.
  • Regalia orders are on their way, and you will be notified by email when the regalia is ready to be picked up in the Business Office. You must pick up your regalia by Friday, May 14th. Regalia will need to be pressed. The dress code for clothing underneath your regalia is: men – dark dress pants and dark dress shoes and socks; women – dress, skirt, or dark dress slacks, dark dress shoes and hose.
  • As a reminder, all M.A. or M.T.S. students who are writing a thesis must have an approved first draft of their thesis prior to graduation in order to participate in the ceremony. This should be turned in no later than April 23th in order to allow time for evaluation.  Please consult with your thesis readers and advisor if you have questions about this matter. If you fail to complete this requirement, you will not be allowed to walk.  
  • Also, you must be registered for any remaining classes in the spring term.
