800 Division - Missiological Studies
Courses in missions are designed to prepare the student for the work on the mission field or in a related area. Instruction focuses on the personal development of the student for leadership roles in various mission related settings.
801 Introduction to Missions
This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of biblical missiology. Emphasis is placed on the biblical view of global missions within the context of today’s cross-cultural opportunities. 2 hours
802 Cross-cultural Ministry
Drawing upon various disciplines, this course is designed to study the problems involved in the communication of the Christian message to the peoples of diverse cultures. Insights from anthropology, sociology, rhetoric, psychology, etc. will provide the framework upon which to build a better understanding of effective communication. 2 hours
805 Cross-cultural Internship
This course is designed with the short-termer in mind. It will involve the student in a cross-cultural ministry either overseas or among an ethnic people in North America. The course will include the reading of selected books and articles as the student ministers with an established mission agency. Prerequisite: 801. 1-3 hours
806 Biblical Theology of Missions
“It is the understanding of the mission Dei that we find the coherence of all the theological disciplines and the purpose of the theological enterprise.” With this proposition as a backdrop, our study will examine the Scripture to discover a theology of the mission of God as well as the mission of the church. 2 hours
